It's worth noting that the cumulative angle of 30 degrees thrice may not equate to 180 degrees due to the shifting reference point with each bend.

Many contractors opt to shape their fascia on-site using painted aluminum coil stock, which is thinner than factory fascia (.019 vs. .024 inch thick). In such cases, it is essential to form a continuous locking hem on the top edge and insert it into the utility trim.

To prevent the downward movement of rake fascia, slot punch the bottom edge of the fascia and secure it in place with three or four aluminum trim nails driven into the subfascia. These slots enable longitudinal expansion and contraction of the fascia without causing buckling.

It is crucial to avoid having aluminum fascia make sharp turns at corners. Instead, incorporate small inserts at all inside and outside corners, breaking the fascia at these points. These inserts serve as a backdrop, concealing the wood subfascia and maintaining a seamless appearance at corner joints.

Installing Aluminum fascia to prevent it from being wavy

For optimal installation of aluminum fascia, especially in darker colors, it is crucial to conduct the installation on a hot day with direct sunlight on the fascia. This precaution ensures that the fascia has expanded to its maximum extent before being installed. The goal is to avoid any limitations on expansion post-installation, as restricted expansion is a common cause of waviness in the fascia.

Yes, aluminum fascia can be secured using staples. According to the instructions you provided, you can secure the aluminum soffit panels to the bottom of the fascia board using either 1-inch aluminum trim nails or staples. The key is to use these fasteners to ensure a secure and flush installation of the panels. Always follow the specific guidelines and recommendations provided by the manufacturer for the best results and to maintain the structural integrity of the installation.
